Quinta dos Vales is a winery and sculpture garden on the outskirts of Lagoa, set among 15 hectares of vineyards that produce some of the Algarve's most respected wines. The estate combines wine production with contemporary art, creating a destination that appeals to visitors with no particular interest in viticulture as much as to dedicated oenophiles.

The vineyards are planted with both Portuguese and international grape varieties. Touriga Nacional, Aragonez (Tempranillo) and Syrah dominate the red plantings, while Arinto and Viognier are among the whites. The Algarve's warm climate, long sunshine hours and limestone soils produce wines with ripe fruit character and moderate acidity, a style that has gained recognition in Portuguese wine circles after decades of being dismissed as too hot for quality production.

The sculpture garden is scattered across the estate's grounds, with over 40 large-scale works by Portuguese and international artists positioned among the vines, olive trees and gardens. The pieces range from figurative bronze to abstract steel and stone, and the contrast between the artworks and the agricultural landscape gives the collection an open-air gallery character that is quite unlike the white-cube experience of a conventional museum.

Wine tastings are offered daily and can be paired with local cheeses, charcuterie and olive oil. The estate also runs a programme that allows visitors to create their own blended wine, selecting from different barrels and designing a personalised label. Tours of the vineyards and winery explain the production process from vine to bottle. The estate is signposted from the EN125 near Lagoa and is easily reached from the coastal resorts.
